52 Week Money Challenge

I continued seeing this "52 Week Money Challenge" on Pinterest and was quite intrigued.  I thought about the actual intricacies of it and how I could make it better.  If you take a look at the last 4 weeks of the challenge, it has you saving a little over $200.  So, I got to thinking even more...

If I can save $200 in a month where money is more tight than any other month, why can't I up the ante in the months where I am not over-spending?

"My 52 Week Money Challenge" has you saving $150 the first month out the gate by starting small and getting progressively larger in amounts of 10, not 1.  The funny thing I came to find is that, all in all, you are not saving an enormous amount more, approximately $400 more, for the year. But every little bit adds up.

The reason I did this at first is because I wanted to save a little more than $1,400.00.  It worked.  I plan to have around $2,000 at years end with the cash I'll add from Xmas gifts.

I haven't decided what I want to do with this money, but life changes so much over the course of a year.  I'm sure I'll find ideas to blog about... hee, hee.

Give this a try and let me know how it goes.  I'm on week 6 and already have $160 saved.  I really like it so far, and don't find the difference in cost too much to handle.  I know at the end of the year I will greatly appreciate having the extra dough.

  1. This is an awesome idea! I am seriously so bad with my money - if I have some I spend it! I've been trying to save up for a new car so this would be a perfect plan for me to follow.

    Great post!!

  4. Well hello Brandi, what a pretty name! I have heard so much about this challenge, I might try it. I usually save for holiday or vacations it would be smart if I just save because it makes sense. Thank you for sharing #Sitsblogging

  5. The 52 week money challenged intrigued me too, but being married to a teacher our income comes in peaks and valleys so it would be very hard some months to save anything. It balances out over the year, so maybe I need to do like you did and just make my own plan and put away more in higher months
